Michelle Dekker kicks off European contest season with double win
Dutch youngster Michelle Dekker has celebrated a perfect start into the new winter season. At SnowWorld Landgraaf, formerly known as World Cup fridge, the 18-years-old goofy rider won both races (NC and FIS Race) held last weekend which marked the start of the contest season in Europe.

“I’m really happy to win here in SnowWorld. It was a round course, but I liked it,” said Dekker, who competed at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games and has – so far – seven World Cup starts under her belt.

While Dekker came out successfully of an hero-packed starter field featuring the likes of former World Champions and 2014 Olympic medallist, her older brother Davy become the national champion on the men's side finishing 12th in the NC event which was won by Swiss racer Silvan Flepp.

In the second parallel slalom which was held in the single run format Germany's Alexander Bergmann underlined his strength beating Davy Dekker in the big finals.

With the European season now having officially started, Pepijn van Schijndel, Race Organiser and owner of the Dutch based open team called Snowpepper explained: “The races and the extensive training time offered here in SnowWorld have shown that we have a good future for alpine snowboarding here in Holland.”

As a result, preparation time for two more races next year at the same time have already started.
