Nordic Combined: FIS Youth Cup premiere in Trondheim
The next step in the development of the FIS Nordic Combined youth system and ladies’ Nordic Combined are underway. On 11th and 12th March 2015, the Norwegian venue of Trondheim will host the first-ever FIS Youth Cup. It will also feature two international Nordic Combined competitions for ladies. The event was announced at a press conference in conjunction with the FIS World Cup competitions in Ramsau (AUT) last weekend.

Together with the young male athletes, all Nordic Combined females born between 1998 and 2002 will get the chance to compete in Trondheim. A similar event was held last summer in Oberstdorf (GER).

For Race Director Lasse Ottesen, it marks an important milestone in the development of Nordic Combined, in particular with regard to the ladies: “This summer, there were nine nations at the start with 60 boys and 40 girls and the level was much higher than expected. We know that a lot of nations also have national competitions for boys and girls but there have not been any international ones so far. We are working on establishing a FIS Youth Cup system and hopefully in the future also a ladies’ Continental Cup.”
