COC: Tom Hilde ahead in Engelberg
Norwegian Tom Hilde took his first win in the Continental Cup with jumps on 131 m and 128 m and a total of 262.1 points. With a third place on Saturday and this win, Switzerland was definitely worth the trip for the 27-year-old. "I'm super happy that my jumping actually works under most conditions and I'm able to show consistent performances. I'm improving step by step, that makes me happy."
After his fourth place yesterday, Miran Zupancic finished on the podium this time. With 126.5 m and 131 m (258.1 points) the Slovene came in second. "I made two good jumps, the second was better than the first. The conditions were difficult but in the end really fair."
Rok Justin, winner of the first competition in Engelberg, was only eleventh after the first round on Sunday, but with his second jump on 131.5 m the Slovene was able to move up to third and was more than satisfied with this result. "Of course I'm not disappointed that I didn't win again. The competition was very fair, even if the conditions were not easy."
Norwegian Andreas Stjernen could also improve his result in the final, he moved up from tenth to fourth. Bartlomiej Klusek, second on Saturday, was in the lead after the first half of the competition, but he fell in the second round and came in only fifth.
Local hero Kilian Peier could further improve his good seventh place from Saturday and finished sixth. Behind young Norwegian Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng (7th), also Sebastian Klinga of Finland (8th), Slovenia's Jure Sinkovec (9th) and Bjoereng's teammate Kenneth Gangnes (10th) could also achieve a Top 10 result in this year's final competition.
Five Austrian jumpers were disqualified in the final round because they made modifications to their bibs, among them was Ulrich Wohlgenannt, who would have been third with his performance.
With 260 points Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang is still the leader of the overall ranking in the Continental Cup, followed by Stephan Leyhe of Germany (210 points). After his good performances this weekend, Kilian Peier is now third with 194 points.
