Sara Takanashi wins again
Sara Takanashi also won the second World Cup competition in Sapporo (JPN). With a strong jump in the final round, the 18-year-old moved up from seventh to first and came in ahead of Carina Vogt and Austrian Chiara Hoelzl.

"I feel incredible", Takanashi said afterwards. "The weather was crazy today, but we were able to finish the competition. At the end the result is excellent for me and I'm happy." The Japanese scored 236.3 points with jumps on 87 m and 97 m.

Vogt followed with jumps on 93.5 m and 94 m and 230.7 points. The German said: "It's really cool to be on the podium again. I showed a good performance today and I'm very happy about the result. It was not easy today, but we must accept the weather and make the best out of it."

Hoelzl, who was in the lead after the first round, came in third 0.3 points behind with 88.5 m and 92.5 m and achieved her best result in the World Cup. "I felt really good today. I had a good first jump and I was also satisfied with the second one. I'm very happy and I love Japan."

Austrians strong

With Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, who jumped on 95 m twice (229.3 points), and Eva Pinkelnig, who posted jumps on 91.5 m and 93 m (226.8 points), two other Austrians followed in fourth and fifth. For Pinkelnig this was also a career-best result. Katharina Althaus came in sixth with 220.1 points, Slovenia's Maja Vtic was seventh with 218.7 points. The eighth place went to Sarah Hendrickson, who was fifth in the first competition. Yuki Ito, third after the first round, was ninth with 214.8 points. Spela Rogelj of Slovenia was tenth with 213.3 points. US American Nita Englund and Jessica Jerome finished 11th and 12th, Russia's Irina Avvakumova was 13th.

Kykkaenen improved

Behind Coline Mattel, Finland's Julia Kykkaenen achieved her best result this season in 15th. Evelyn Insam scored points for the first time this season in 20th, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger could not repeat her strong fourth place of the first competition and was 24th. US American Tara Geraghty-Moats was 29th and scored World Cup points for the first time in her career.

After three competitions, Sara Takanashi is now leading the overall World Cup with 260 points, 50 points ahead of Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and 24 more ahead of Spela Rogelj. Olympic Champion Carina Vogt is fourth with 128 points, Sarah Hendrickson follows in fifth with 106 points.
