Kamil Stoch rocks Zakopane
Kamil Stoch won the World Cup in Zakopane. The double Olympic Champion took his first win this season with jumps on 134 m and 133 m and 276.2 points. 4-Hills-Tournament winner Stefan Kraft and Severin Freund were second and third.

Stoch said afterwards: “Thanks to the fans here in Zakopane. It was my dream to sing the Polish anthem together with the spectators today. With this win I accomplished my first goal this season. It was a very fair competition and I was able to perform at 100 %. It's not my goal to chase the leaders in the overall World Cup, because this is very difficult. But the season is not over yet, a lot is still possible. I don't have anything to lose. That's why I will also compete in Japan. The competitions are the best training for me now. The team still has a month to get in a good shape for the World Championships. Everyone on the team can jump well, but they have to believe in it. I think that the World Championships can be very successful for the whole team.”

Kraft: "A fantastic competition"

Stefan Kraft showed a better performance than in the team competition on Saturday and reached 273.9 points with 133 m and 133.5 m. The Austrian told: “It was a fantastic competition. There was almost no wind and the conditions were the same for everyone. The best won today, congratulations to Kamil. It's amazing to win on the home hill. I had two good jumps today and I'm satisfied with the result.”

Ski Flying World Champion Severin Freund proved his great shape with 131 m and 133 m and 267.1 points, he came in 2.3 points ahead of Peter Prevc. The German said: “It was a very good competition here in Zakopane. We were jumping on a high level. It was not easy, that's why I'm more than satisfied with my result.” Peter Prevc posted jumps on 132 m and 130.5 m. Michael Hayboeck was fifth with 131.5 m and 132 m (260.6 points).

Tepes is getting better and better

Behind Anders Fannemel, sixth with 256.3 points, there was a gap of 10.7 points to Jurij Tepes, who was seventh. Roman Koudelka came in eighth with 244.1 points, followed by Noriaki Kasai in ninth with 242.2 points. 2.4 points behind the Japanese, Jernej Damjan completed the Top 10. Richard Freitag, so far one of the outstanding jumpers this weekend, finished 13th, behind Anders Jacobsen and Taku Takeuchi. His teammate Markus Eisenbichler was 14th.

Positive trend for Hilde

Gregor Schlierenzauer, who already won in Zakopane five times, was only 15th. Tom Hilde showed an upward trend with his 16th place, Vladislav Boyarintsev and Ilmir Hazetdinov scored World Cup points for Russia in 23rd and 28th. In absence of Thomas Diethart, Manuel Fettner was the fourth best of the Austrians in 29th.

Kraft extends overall lead

With now 877 points, Stefan Kraft extended his lead in the overall World Cup. Michael Hayboeck is second with 799 points, Peter Prevc follows in third (764 points), only 11 points ahead of Severin Freund. Today's winner Kamil Stoch moved up to 16th with 234 points.

The next World Cup competitions will take place in Sapporo (JPN) next weekend. After stops in Willingen, Titisee-Neustadt and Vikersund, the Nordic World Ski Championships will be held a month from now in Falun.
