Next home win for Severin Freund
Severin Freund took a clear win in the World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt and is more and more the top favorite for the World Championships in Falun in two weeks. With jumps on 138.5 m and 140 m the Bavarian scored 299.4 points and came in ahead of Stefan Kraft and Peter Prevc.

Freund said afterwards: “It was a great day for me. I've never had top results here before. After such a strong training jump everything is a bit easier. I'm very happy now, every win in the World Cup is great, but it doesn't change anything concerning the World Championships. I hope that I can go there in a good shape. It will be interesting and I'm looking forward to it.”

Strong final jump by Kraft

4-Hills-Tournament winner Stefan Kraft, only eighth after the first round with 134 m, jumped on 139 m in the final and with 288.0 points he moved up to second. The Austrian said: “It's a lot of fun for me now and that's why I'll also go to Vikersund. There's still a lot of time left until Falun. Right now I'm focusing on tomorrow and I want to show a good performance again.”

Peter Prevc, who was only 0.3 points behind Freund after his first jump on 141.5 points, jumped on 131.5 m in the second round and scored 285.8 points. Behind Prevc, double Olympic Champion Kamil Stoch, who jumped on 136 m and 133.5 m, missed the podium by 3.8 points and finished fourth. Roman Koudelka jumped on 136 m and 132 m and came in fifth with 281.0 points. Behind Noriaki Kasai, who was sixth with 279.9 points, Gregor Schlierenzauer was seventh with 278.1 points and showed an upward trend.

Jacobsen best Norwegian

Anders Jacobsen was the best Norwegian in eighth with 275.2 points, his teammate Rune Velta finished tenth with 267.5 points. Between them, Piotr Zyla was ninth with 269.7 points. Anders Fannemel in eleventh, Kenneth Gangnes in 14th and Tom Hilde in 17th completed the good team result for Norway. Besides Severin Freund, also Markus Eisenbichler in 12th and Marinus Kraus in 16th achieved good results for the German team.

Freitag with problems

Like a year ago, Richard Freitag is struggling again before the season's highlight. He failed to qualify for the final round in Titisee and was only 36th. The same fate was shared by Gregor Deschwanden, Robert Kranjec and Dimitry Vassiliev. It went a lot better for Nejc Dezman, who was 13th. His teammate Jurij Tepes suffered a little setback after his strong performances recently and was 21st. Michael Hayboeck came in 15th. In 20th, Manuel Fettner showed the best performance out of the athletes who are still fighting for one of the last free spots on the Austrian team for Falun. Thomas Diethart was only 30th and will not have the best chances.

Zniszczol consistent

Aleksander Zniszczol has probably already earned his ticket for Falun. Apart from Roman Koudelka, the Czech team is not in a good shape right now. The second best Czech today was veteran Jakub Janda in 27th, Davide Bresadola scored points for Italy in 29th.

The second competition in Titisee-Neustadt takes place on Sunday at 3:45 pm CET.
