Sara Takanashi wins after one round
Sara Takanashi won the second competition in Rasnov. Under difficult conditions, the Japanese won after only one round with 95 m and 121.4 points ahead of Nita Englund of the USA and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz.

For Takanashi this was the first win since seven competitions. The Japanese said afterwards: “I'm really happy about today's result. But still I want to improve my jumps in order to perform on an even higher level and achieve good result in the next competitions and in the overall World Cup.”

First podium for Nita Englund

Nita Englund, who was on the podium for the first time in the World Cup, followed with 94 m and 118.3 points. The American was happy: “I’m exited about today. I was hoping it will be a two rounder. It was kind of tricky at the top to be prepared because we had to wait a while. I’m looking forward to the future. My jumping is starting to come together, in a few competitions I’ve been close but I’ve screwed up my first or the second jump. Yesterday I really struggled, I’m happy that jumping today was a lot different than yesterday. I’m happy that I’m now in top 10 and don’t have to worry about qualification.”

1.4 points behind, Daniela Iraschko-Stolz achieved her eighth podium result in the tenth competition this season with 91.5 m. She said: “This was probably my best jump this weekend. I didn't have the best wind conditions, that might have cost me five to six meters. At the end the competition was very close and a third place is not that bad.”

Jahr and Seyfarth strong

Close behind the Austrian, Line Jahr achieved her best World Cup result in three years with 94.5 m and 115.6 points.

Juliane Seyfarth, who was in the Top 10 for the first time on Saturday, improved her personal best in fifth with 93 m and 112.1 points. Only 0.1 point behind, Eva Pinkelnig finished sixth, Yuki Ito was seventh with 111.8 points. Behind Maren Lundby, eighth with 110.7 points, American Tara Geraghty-Moats came in on a career best ninth place with 110.1 points. Spela Rogelj finished tenth. Irina Avvakumova made amends for her 26th place on Saturday and was 11th in this competition.

Not a good weekend for Vogt

Carina Vogt will not be satisfied with this weekend. After her eighth place on Saturday, the Olympic Champion came in 12th and could achieve a top result. Behind Maja Vtic, Sarah Hendrickson and Ulrike Graessler shared the 14th place. Julia Kykkaenen came in 16th, Julia Clair, Lea Lemare and Coline Mattel scored points for the French team in 20th, 24th and 25th. Once again Romanian Dana Vasilica Haralambie couldn't qualify for the final round in 34th.

Daniela Iraschko-Stolz leads the overall World Cup with 782 points, clearly ahead of Sara Takanashi (673 points). With three more competitions to go, Carina Vogt (463 points) is the only athlete besides the Top 2 who can still win the overall title.

The final test for the World Championships will take place next weekend in Ljubno (SLO). After the Championships in Falun, the season's final will be held on the Holmenkollen in Oslo.
