Another big donation for Nick Fairall
Nick Fairall, who suffered a severe spinal injury as a result of a crash in Bischofshofen, will now receive further financial support.
Already right after the crash at the final event of the 4-Hills-Tournament a large wave of support started in order to help the American to cover the high costs of medical treatments and rehabilitation.
Fans and friends from all over the world participated in an online fundraising campaign on RallyMe (www.rallyme.com/rallies/1342/nick-fairall), the German team donated their prize money for the win in the team competition in Zakopane and various other teams and sponsors also contributed to the good cause.
Back then, Polish ski jumping Olympic Champion Wojciech Fortuna offered to sell his gold medal of the Winter Games 1972 and he did that now. The company 4F, clothing supplier of the Polish ski jumping team, bought the medal for $ 50 000,- and, as requested by Fortuna, will donate it to the Museum of Sports in Warsaw.
$ 25 000,- of the proceeds will go to Nick Fairall, who is continuing his rehabilitation process in the USA now after he had spent several weeks in the hospital in Schwarzach AUT), the other half will go to Polish speed skater Natalia Czerwonka, who also sustained a back injury in an accident.
