Soboleva takes another one while Lee steps up his game
Natalia Soboleva (RUS) and Sang-ho Lee (KOR) have clinched the parallel giant slalom junior world title at the 19th FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships currently staged in Yabuli, China.
Coming into the second parallel event within 24 hours, Soboleva kept the momentum not only celebrating a back-to-back title but also repeating the double title win of 2014 when the younger sister of reigning psl world champion Andrey Sobolev had already pulled of this rare feat before.
With her fourth consecutive gold and one additional bronze from 2013, the 19-years-old racer has been on the podium in all of the last five parallel events at junior worlds.
In the pgs finals of her fifth junior worlds, Soboleva beat Michelle Dekker, a Dutch rider she had edged off to silver last year in the psl event already.
Elizaveta Salikhova who took bronze yesterday rounded out the podium again as third crossing the finish line ahead of her teammate Milena Bykova in the small final.
In the men's competition, Lee, yesterday's third rank finisher, notched up his performance on the Daguckui slope relegating yesterday's fourth Dario Caviezel from Switzerland to the runner-up position.
In the battle for third, Dmitry Sarsembaev (RUS) made another outstanding result for the Russian squad complete winning over Austria's Aron Juritz.
Russia has claimed three golds, one silver and three bronze medals in both parallel events and now sit comfortably atop of the leader board after three events.
