Calgary’s winter playground
Few major cities around the world have ski and snowboard hills within 15 minutes of its centre and 20 minutes from a major international airport. But WinSport Canada Olympic Park, located near the western edge of the city of Calgary, is a true winter playground, keeping the legacy of the 1988 Winter Olympics alive.

WinSport is the custodian of the ’88 Olympic venues at Canada Olympic Park, where snow sports continue to thrive more than 27 years after the Games. Visitors can explore winter sports in the shadow of the iconic 90-metre ski jump tower.

WinSport continued its tradition of introducing thousands of people from urban environments to snow sports during the fourth edition of World Snow Day. To celebrate World Snow Day, adults and children were offered the opportunity to explore skiing or snowboarding for less than 20 dollars. In addition to carving some turns on the hill, several activities took place, including a fun ski racing course and the opportunity to view a high-calibre moguls completion of young, up-and-coming athletes.

“Over the past 27 years, WinSport has introduced more than two million people to winter sports. We are proud to have participated in the fourth annual FIS World Snow Day to continue to promote winter sport and encourage healthy and active lifestyles for people of all ages,” says WinSport president and CEO Barry M. Heck.
