Severin Freund: "Nothing is decided yet"
Severin Freund wrote a little piece of ski jumping history this weekend. Never before a jumper took two wins on one weekend on the Holmenkollen in Oslo. And the World Champion is the first athlete since Thomas Morgenstern 2010, who won four times in a row. FIS Ski Jumping spoke to the 26-year-old after the competition.

FIS Ski Jumping: Severin, fourth win in a row, the second one here in Oslo. Both historic. It seems you are unbeatable right now.

Severin Freund: That's definitely not true. Stefan Kraft proved that impressively in Lahti when he won with a huge lead. In Trondheim he probably would have won as well. I was jumping very well here, but everything else also worked perfectly. It might have looked very dominant in the last four competitions, but actually it didn't feel that way. You have to fight hard for every win. Peter Prevc showed in the final round twice how good he can jump. If he shows two jumps like this in one competition then it'll be difficult for everyone in the field to get close to him.

FIS Ski Jumping: The conditions were very difficult in all four competitions and you were able to make two good jumps every time.

Freund: Yes, that's true. I was very consistent. It's a strength of mine that I'm not very vulnerable to the wind. Of course you need some luck as well. But, when I'm in a good shape, my technique works well under very different conditions and this makes it easier for me especially in Scandinavia.

FIS Ski Jumping: Now it's on to Planica for two more indivdiual competitions. We know, that you can do well also in ski flying. You have a lead of more than 90 points now, so you have to think about the overall title.

Freund: I always said that, whoever is ahead, is in the best position. I'm ahead now, and I have a good lead, so I'm in a very good position before the final. But nothing is decided yet. Peter showed in Vikersund what he can do on a ski flying hill. This won't be any different in Planica. At the end of the season you can lose the focus and the tension easily. I will try to relax at home now and preserve the strength in the legs. In Planica all you can do is attack, in ski flying you can't just wait and see what happens. Nothing is decided yet and that won't change until I won also mathematically.
