Julien Cousineau retires
Through a post on his Facebook account, Canadian slalom specialist Julien Cousineau announced his retirement from skiracing.

“After 17 years on the national team and the last year on my own time has come for me to retire from ski racing,” Cousineau wrote. “This week I will do my last Canadian Championship.

Cousineau started his World Cup career in Soelden in 2002 and competed in 109 World Cup races, four World Championships ones and the Olympic slalom in Whistler, Canada. His best result is a fifth place in the World Championships slalom in Garmisch Partenkirchen in 2011 and two fifth places in slalom in Schladming and Val d’Isere in 2010.

“It has been roller coaster ride lots of injury and lots of good times. I am proud of what I accomplished, I never gave up and always faced what was in front of me,” Cousineau continued his farewell post before thanking all of those who have supported him through his career.

Cousineau didn’t elaborate on his plans for the future but based on his post, it won’t come as a surprise if this next chapter doesn’t take him too far from the slopes.

“I made so many friends over the years and I hope our path will cross at some points. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life with my wife and 2 sons. Thank you it's been a great ride!!!!!!! Cousi,” he concluded the announcement.

The FIS Family wished Julien all the best in his future projects!
