Jason Lamy Chappuis ends last competition with a victory
Nordic Combined superstar Jason Lamy Chappuis really understands how to end a career on a high note. After announcing his retirement after his Team Sprint gold medal in Falun, he has ended his last-ever competition with a victory in Chaux-Neuve today.

With his victory, he took the French national title one last time, his ninth in total, beating out teammates Francois Braud and Maxime Laheurte for the win. The other retiree, Sebastien Lacroix, finished fourth.

In the lead after the jumping round was Paul Brasme who accumulated 133.5 points after his jump and started 10 seconds ahead of Maxime Laheurte. In the race, he was no match for the other athletes and finally finished 21st out of the 28 starters. Lamy Chappuis ranked fourth after the jumping part and had 36 seconds to make up on the leader Brasme.

With a superb cross-country performance in true Lamy Chappuis-style (the fastest cross-country time of 23:58.94), the 29-year-old stormed to the head of the field and finally finished 10.24 seconds ahead of Francois Braud, who overtook Maxime Laheurte and Paul Brasme to finish second in the end. The bronze rank was Laheurte’s 16.34 seconds after Lamy Chappuis crossed the finish line.

Hugo Buffard was the best of the B-team athletes, finishing fifth. Antoine Gerard claimed the U20 title with his total sixth rank. Places two and three in this ranking went to Tom Balland (9th) and Laurent Muhlethaler (10th).
