Going beyond the call of duty
World Snow Day Organisers put in a tremendous amount of effort to give children the opportunity to explore, enjoy and experience the snow. For the 4th edition of World Snow Day some Organisers have taken an extra step.
Two Canadian ski teams, Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club and Huntsville High School Nordic, co-hosted World Snow Day events held at Arrowhead Nordic Center Provincial Park on 17th and 18th January 2015. At the conclusion of the weekend the skiers raised USD 325 to give to FIS’ charity partner, Right to Play. The organisation uses play to educate and empower children and youth to overcome the effects of poverty, conflict and disease in disadvantaged communities.
On 25th March 2015, an official cheque presentation was made by two students of Huntsville High School Nordic and Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club Eric MacNeil and Sarah Cowan to the Right to Play ambassadors Kirby Davidson and Callie Bowman at Arrowhead Nordic Center Provincial Park.
FIS would like to extend warm congratulations to Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club and Huntsville High School Nordic for their initiative in combining World Snow Day activities with raising funds for a worthy charity.
