Clas Brede Brathen sees room for improvement
About a month after a very successful winter for Norwegian ski jumping and a few weeks before the official start of the training period, athletic director Clas Brede Brathen summed up the last season.
"We started the 4-Hills-Tournament with the Yellow Bib and showed some great performances. At the 4-Hills it then didn't go as well as we wanted. We could win in Garmisch, but at this point we were not consistent enough to be among the best. After the 4-Hills-Tournament we had a very good period with the world record in Vikersund and the best results ever at the Junior World Championships and the Nordic WSC in Falun. In the fight for the Nation's Cup we came in close behind Germany and we also achieved good results in the COC", Brathen is quoted on the website of the Norwegian Ski Association.
Despite all the success, the athletic director is confident that his team can get even better. "We still have a lot of room for improvement. We need more ski jumping hills and expertise. If we want to achieve the maximum, we have to focus on the long-term development. The goal for the future is to increase the quality of the day-to-day work. This is an important step, we should focus on improving what is not good enough yet."
After a few weeks off, the preparation for the upcoming season starts early May for the athletes. For some, this date will not be important for the first time in years. Besides the former overall World Cup winner and World Champion Anders Bardal, also Vegard Sklett, Ole Marius Ingvaldsen, Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell and Atle Pedersen Roensen decided to end their careers this spring.
