Right To Play Charity Night in Verbier
On 10th April 2015, for the eighth year in a row, the Verbier High Five season ending was the perfect opportunity to bring together sport and humanities at a charity dinner benefiting Right To Play Switzerland.
Twelve Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors were on site including alpine skiing star Alexis Pinturault (FRA) with current and former athletes: snowboarder and Olympic Champion Tanja Frieden, snowboarder Estelle Balet, alpine skiers Chemmy Alcott and Roland Collombin, ice hockey player Olivier Keller, Paralympic alpine skier Christoph Kunz, beach volleyball player Patrick Heuscher, sailor Flavio Marazzi, cyclist Markus Zberg, football player Alain Gaspoz, and fencer Tiffany Géroudet.
The Ambassadors were joined by skiers Didier Defago, Tina Weirather, Adrien Théaux, Wendy Holdener, Alex Fiva and Christoph Innerhofer and other big names from the sports, culture, politics and business worlds.
The dinner and high-end raffle, which included prizes such as holidays, flights, watches and sports equipment, resulted in CHF 50,000 being raised for Right to Play Switzerland.
Alexis Pinturault, one of the newest Right To Play Ambassadors held a speech at the event thanking the 250 persons present for their support to the organisation.
Former alpine skier Chemmy Alcott was full of praise for the successful evening, and found herself even a bit star struck.
"Alongside many other Right To Play Ambassadors we enjoyed a great evening. We watched the sunset from high in the Verbier valley, whilst raising money for our fantastic charity with all the Swiss supporters. What more do you want from a fundraiser - great conversation, yummy food, a great speech from Alexis Pinturault, lots of prizes won (a few by the great man Didier Defago himself!) and rubbing shoulders with Swiss celebrities - my favourite was Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter!" Alcott said.
