Austrian team braves Ironman in Klagenfurt
Once again, the Austrian team followed the invitation of their main sponsor Stiegl and took part in the Ironman competition in Klagenfurt. A mixed relay consisting of Lukas Klapfer (3,86 km swimming), Harald Lemmerer and Will Denifl (each 90 km cycling) and coaches Christoph Eugen and Jochen Strobl (each 21,1 km of running) finished the competition in 8 hours, 53 minutes and 38 seconds.
Lukas Klapfer was impressed after his one hour and eleven minutes swimming leg: „There was a lot of action in the water and also the ladies who are taking part are really tough. It was elbows flying and everything, very impressive.“ All three athletes agreed that it was really fun to integrate an event like the Ironman in the season preparation and stressed the huge amount of respect they have for all athletes who do the whole distance of the competition by themselves.
