Jessica-Lindell Vikarby ends career
Sweden’s ski racer Jessica-Lindell Vikarby announced her retirement on 14th July 2015 at the age of 31 years.

She debuted her World Cup career in Sölden (AUT) in 2002 and recorded 228 World Cup starts since then. Her career was crowned with a giant slalom bronze medal at the recent FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek (USA) and a second place in the giant slalom World Cup in the 2013/14 season.

“After reaching my goal with the World Championship bronze medal this winter and the success the season before with five podiums in GS and a second place in the GS overall World Cup, I feel that the timing is good to say goodbye to the sport as an active athlete”, she said.

“It has been a fantastic journey and I am proud of what I have achieved on and off the race slopes. I will for sure miss the races and miss being around my second family, travelling around the world. I will take the opportunity to thank all of you – family, friends, fans and sponsors – who have supported me all these years. Now I will take some time off, let my body heal and figure out what new challenges I would like to have in the future”, she continued.

Jessica Lindell-Vikarby was elected Chair of the FIS Athletes’ Commission 2015-2017 in early June and will continue her role.

FIS wishes her all the best for her future and looks forward to continue working with her!
