Good news for Janne Ahonen
Good news for Janne Ahonen: He didn't suffer any serious injuries in his fall at the FIS Grand Prix in Hinterzarten.
The Finn fell in the out run during the team competition last Friday and due to pain in the knee he was then not able to participate in the individual competition a day later.
After a medical examination on Monday the doctors now had positive news. No ligaments are torn, Janne Ahonen only sustained a strain. "Waiting for the diagnosis was terrible. I felt pain in the knee and I knew that something happened. I was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst", the 38-year-old said to Finnish TV channel YLE.
The former overall World Cup winner will now not be able to train for a couple of days and shall be fully fit again in just a few weeks. He doesn't consider this a problem when it comes ot the preparation for next winter. "In summer it went pretty well so far. The expectations for the winter are now on a different level than last year. I have no other goal than to jump well and be successful", told Ahonen, who was sidelined for a few months last summer due to a knee injury.
