Nordic Combined: Rydzek the King of summer

Johannes Rydzek (GER) remained the King of summer in Nordic Combined. It was the fourth time, after 2014, 2011 and 2010, the 23-year-old claimed victory in the overall Summer Grand Prix.

In the last competition in his hometown of Oberstdorf last Saturday, second place was sufficient for the double World Champion to claim the overall title after he secured the win in Friday’s competition.

His teammate Fabian Riessle finally made it to the top of the podium by taking his first individual victory on Saturday and secured second place in the overall rankings. With strong jumping performances, Akito Watabe (JPN) flew to third place overall.

The 2015 Nordic Combined Grand Prix featured stops in Oberwiesental (GER), Tschagguns (AUT) and Oberstdorf (GER).

Successful FIS Youth Grand Prix 2015

In conjunction with the competitions in Oberstdorf, the FIS Nordic Combined Youth Grand Prix 2015 - a highlight event for young girls and boys - was staged.

During two competitions days, 30 girls and 49 boys from 10 nations competed in sprint and individual gundersen competitions alongside the senior athletes. The sprint winners were Emanuel Schmid (GER) and Jenny Nowak (GER) in the two younger age categories while Timna Moser (AUT) and Perttu Reponen (FIN) defended their titles from last year in their age groups.

On Saturday, the longer distances (4 km for the younger boys and girls, 6 km for the older boys) were on the programme and Jenny Nowak, Timna Moser and Perttu Reponen claimed victory again. In the boys-13 category, the victory went to Pepe Schula (GER).
