Thomas Morgenstern presents his book

On September 26th, 2014 Thomas Morgenstern announced his career end, exactly a year later the Austrian will now publich his book "Ueber meinen Schatten" ("Over my shadow").

"It is not a classic biography, it reads more like a novel. But it was important to come to terms with certain issues", the 28-year-old told in a previous interview.

The book will be officially presented on September 26th at 7:00 pm CET in the Thalia book store in the Landstrasser Hauptstrasse in Vienna.

Excerpt of the blurb:

"Open, likeable and direct, the exceptional athlete allows the reader an insight into the dialog, that was going on in his head after his serious fall. It's alternating between a reasonable discussion and a heated argument. It's about the inner conflict between ambition, the will to win and the exhaustion, about the wish for self-determination and about the fear, of not being able to make it alone. It's the fight of two personalities - one wants to return to the top, to achieve even more, to never give up; the other part wants to retire, find peace of mind. Thomas is struggling with Thomas and about big questions: Can he be a good father to his daughter when he risks his life everyday? Shall he give up his private life in order to be successfull? Do the boundaries of competitive sports have something to do with his illness?

A few weeks after his two serious falls in January 2014 he is back on the hill and on the podium. Nobody knows, that the man who always has a smile on his face, suffers from depression and anxiety at this point. In fall of the same year he announced his retirement from the sport."
