Another setback for the Swiss ski cross team: 2013 world champion Fanny Smith injured her shoulder in a crash during her qualification run for the World Cup opener yesterday.

The two-time Olympian fell on the same shoulder she had injured last season already and had to withdraw from this winter's first World Cup race staged in Montafon, Austria this weekend.

First medical examinations in the Bad Ragaz clinic showed that the 23-year-old broke her collar bone.

The national team member will undergo surgery next Monday and be sidelined from action for several weeks.
