SnowKidz is the first phase of the Bring Children to the Snow campaign that started in 2009, The project is proving vital to provide many best practices for staging events that bring children to the snow. In 2012, the success of the SnowKidz activities gave rise to the World Snow Day concept with the 4th edition that took place on 18th January 2015, seeing 645 events in 45 countries.
The rise of World Snow Day opened up an opportunity for SnowKidz to be the element of the campaign that can take place all year round. With this in mind the SnowKidz programme was restructured to offer similar benefits as World Snow Day, but in a flexible programme.
On 16th December 2015, FIS SnowKidz surpassed 1000 events. Some of the activities which have taken place include free and 5 euro lift passes for school children throughout Austria, Alle pa Snow (Everyone on Snow) throughout Sweden, Kids on Snow Tour all over Germany, Europa-Park SnowKidz (GER), Burton Riglet Park Tour throughout Belgium, Wintersport Expereince throughout Netherlands, SnowKidz Temple Basin (NZE), Stream SnowKidz Race (CHI), Three and Free at Killington and Pico Mountain (USA), Ski 4 All throughout Portugal and many more.
FIS President Gian Franco Kasper said: ”This milestone completes the Bring Children to the Snow picture. SnowKidz Organisers are now able to continuously provide children a chance to enjoy snow sports. This is vital if snow sports would like to have a future.”
