Gregor Schlierenzauer will not take part in the final event of the 4-Hills-Tournament in Bischofshofen. His place on the Austrian team will now got to Thomas Diethart, 4-Hills-Tournament winner 2013/14.
"We have decided to not let Gregor compete, because it's extremely hard for him to participate in these competitions. He really wanted to take part in Bischofshofen, but we think that this is the right decision and he accepted it", head coach Heinz Kuttin said on Monday.
The 25-year-old two-time 4-Hills-Tournament winner failed to qualify for the final round in the competitions in Oberstdorf and Innsbruck and finished only 21st in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
"The hope for a positive trend did not come true in the last competitions. I would have wished for a step in the right direction, especially in Garmisch and Innsbruck on two of my favorite hills. Unfortunately the opposite happened. I was really looking forward to the competition in Innsbruck, looking down on the fantastic crowd is always amazing and I enjoy it a lot. Then I had such a bad jump and it's hard to find the right words for this disappointment.
That's the reason why the decision of the coaching staff around Heinz, Erst Vettori and Hans Pum, to take me out of the team for the 4-Hills-Tournament, doesn't come as a surprise. I really wanted to compete in the 4-Hills until the end, but it's not working for me at all and I don't have any answers", Gregor Schlierenzauer writes on his website.
Up to now it's not known yet when he will be compete again and so it's also not clear whether he will take part in the upcoming Ski Flying World Championships in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT).
