Beaulieu-Marchand out 4-6 weeks with injury

Slopestyle skier Alex Beaulieu-Marchand broke his collarbone on Wednesday while training independently in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Beaulieu-Marchand, 21, will require surgery to fix the break and is expected to be out of action for at least 4-6 weeks. As a result, the native of Quebec City will be missing the upcoming FIS World Cup in Mammoth next week and the X Games in Aspen at the end of the month.

“I’m really disappointed right now as I had just worked my way back from a knee injury and competed in December at the Dew Tour for the first time in eleven months,” said Beaulieu-Marchand. “I’ve had some bad luck with injuries the last two years, but I am confident that I will recover from this and come back stronger.”

Beaulieu-Marchand had recently competed at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge where he was the only Canadian male to make the final of the event. Beaulieu-Marchand will be meeting with team doctors to devise the best possible recovery plan to ensure he is at full health before returning to competition.
