World Cup restart in Chaux-Neuve
The winter of 2015/16 started capriciously with the windy weekend in Ruka and it continued difficultly as it did not really want to start at all: no snow and warm temperatures in central Europe caused many cancellations, postponements and rescheduling across all disciplines. Nordic Combined was among the ones who were hit the hardest: It has been four weeks until the last World Cup events in Ramsau am Dachstein and therefore the upcoming competitions in Chaux-Neuve will be something of a World Cup re-start.

Due to the long and unusual break, favourites are tough to name, yet it will be upon World Cup leader Magnus Krog from Norway to be in the thick of the fight to keep his  yellow bib. Challengers can most likely be found among the winners of the past events: Norwegian Magnus Moan, German superstar Eric Frenzel or his teammate Fabian Rießle. All four individual events so far had different winners, the elite of the Nordic Combined World Cup is very close together performance-wise and so everything can happen.

Chaux-Neuve with its masses of spectators and unparalleled enthusiasm for Nordic Combined is the perfect stage for the beginning of the rest of the World Cup winter. Can local heroes Francois Braud and Maxime Laheurte step up and give the home crowd a fantastic performance like the now retired French superstar Jason Lamy Chappuis in the past? Or will for example Italy’s Alessandro Pittin strike back who famously won all three events held in Chaux-Neuve in 2012?

In two Individual Gundersen events, the athletes will have the chance to collect victories and points and get back into competition mode before the first big season highlight, the Nordic Combined TRIPLE is on schedule the following weekend.
