Matteo Baumgarten Award applications due 31st January

For the 20th time, the Baumgarten family is inviting interested young athletes to apply for the Matteo Baumgarten Award, an annual prize that commemorates the life of their son Matteo Baumgarten by recognising young athletes who are completing their studies and education while competing.

All FIS member National Ski Associations have been invited to enter up to three young athletes (between 18 and 24 years) of the six FIS Olympic disciplines to be considered for the award. Applications can still be sent to Andrew Cholinski at cholinski@fisski.com by the deadline of 31stJanuary 2016.

About the Award

The Matteo Baumgarten Award annually commemorates the life of Matteo Baumgarten – a promising skier and philosopher – whose life was cut short by a tragic car accident. The award recognises young athletes who are following the path of excellence in sports and education. Last year, alpine skier Ramon Zenhäusern (SUI) won the 19th edition of the Award.
