Early season's end for Meiler
The season's over for snowboard cross athlete Simona Meiler, who had suffered some serious injuries during a training run at the X Games.
Further examinations at the Uniklinik Balgrist showed that the Swiss racers, who had fractured her lumbar vertebrae due to the bad fall also has to deal with a tibial plateau fracture but “luckily no torn ligaments or hurt meniscus.”
However, the injuries will sideline Meiler from action for two to three months, which implies that the two-time Olympian will miss the rest of the World Cup season.
“But it also means that I should be back 100% fit and ready for the whole prep for the next season,” stated Meiler.
