Andreas Mitter will be the new head coach of the Finnish ski jumpers and, in this position, the successor of Jani Klinga, who was working with the team since 2014.
The Austrian started his coaching career at the Skiclub Partenkirchen in Germany, in the past years he was working with the Training Group II of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) in the Continental Cup.
After a once again difficult winter for the team of Finland, in which Lauri Asikainen is currently the best Finnish athlete in the overall World Cup in 46th, the national ski association now wants to set the new course for the upcoming winter.
But Andreas Mitter will not have a lot of time in his first job as head coach until the first big highlight is coming up: Already in February/March 2017 the Nordic World Ski Championships will be held in front of the home crowd in Lahti.
Mitter will start his new job mid April, when he will stay in Finland for a month. Until then the Austrian and the Finnish Ski Association will also from the new coaching staff and name the athletes to the national team. His contract is valid for two years, plus an option for one more year.
The new head coach and his team will be officially presented on April 13th in Helsinki.
