Jesper Modin ends professional skiing career

Swedish Cross-Country skier Jesper Modin announced end of his professional skiing career.

"Sometimes life takes you to a new track. This weekend's Championship races were the last for me as elite skier. There are mixed feelings right now, but having taken the decision at the same time feels very good and very right. It's something I've thought about for a long time," Modin wrote in his website.

Modin took part in 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver where he finished 18th in the classic sprint and 2011 FIS World Ski Championships in Oslo where he took 5th in free technique sprint and 7th in classic team sprint.

Peak of Modin's career was 2010/11 season. He collected 300 sprint points and took 3rd place in the Overall Sprint World Cup ranking.
