According to Norwegian media reports Roar Ljoekelsoey will join the coaching staff of the German team around head coach Werner Schuster.
"My job will be to do what I can do best. I think they are especially looking for a some help when it comes to ski flying. There the Germans haven't been very good for a long time. The goal is that more German athletes will fly over 230 m", said the two-time Ski Flying World Champion.
"With Roar Ljoekelsoey a former world class ski jumper will be part of our coaching staff. We expect him to bring new impetus to our team regarding the technique and the equipment", Werner Schuster told the Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen.
The 39-year-old, who ended his career in 2010, will have to get used to his new role now. "It will be a bit strange to cheer for Germany in ski jumping, but of course you want the people you work with to be successful."
Norway's head coach Alexander Stoeckl considers Ljoekelsoey's decision positive. "It's an interesting task and I hope Roar will gain a lot of experience and return to Norway sometime in the future. It's always good to learn from other systems", the Austrian said to the Norwegian news agency NTB.
