German Ronny Hornschuh is the new head coach of the Swiss ski jumpers and in this position the successor of Pipo Schoedler, who resigned after the last season.
"Ronny Hornschuh earned the trust of the coaching staff and the athletes in the past season to, on the one hand, lead the World Cup team in the upcoming season with the World Championships and, on the other hand, to set the course towards the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang", said Berni Schoedler, head of ski jumping in the Swiss Ski Association.
The coaching staff for the jumpers in the Continental Cup and the FIS Cup remains unchanged. They will still be coached by Roger Kamber (COC) and former head coach Martin Kuenzle (FIS Cup, Alpencup). New on the coaching staff of Swiss Ski is Marvin Scherer. The 22-year-old will work as assistant coach for the various teams.
Ammann back in training
A few weeks after his teammates Simon Ammann now also started the preparation for the new season. The Olympic Champion missed the first training camp in Spain and enjoyed a longer vacation instead.
"I really enjoyed the additional days off. Now I was able to start training again completely recovered and with joy. Over the next days I will mainly focus on the athletic training and some organizational tasks, before I'll start jumping again later this month", Simon Ammann explains in a media release of the Swiss Ski Association.
