Rufer back in charge

Former Swiss alpine snowboard coach Christian Rufer is back to business taking over the job as a head coach of the national team from Ingemar Walder.

Rufer was already in charge of leading the strong and deep roster from 2004 till 2014.

Top athletes like Philipp and Simon Schoch as well as Daniela Meuli, Patrizia Kummer and Nevin Galmarini, all won an Olympic medal under his guidance.

A total of 14 Olympic and world championships medals as well as several World Cup title wins underline his successful first time with the Swiss team which he wants to repeat now.

“We have to lay the foundations which enable the athlete to perform well and sustainable,” he said.

Rufer will be joined by former B-squad athlete David van Wijnkoop who will be in charge of the Europa Cup team with the goal of leading the up-and-coming talents so they can keep up with the world's best soon.
