

Swiss ski cross racer Katrin Müller announced her withdrawal from competitive skiing as she was unable to fully recover from her right knee injury.
"This decision was very difficult," said the 27-year-old skier from Ticino. After one and a half year from the knee reconstruction she returend to the world of racing last season, but the injuries started to haunt her again early in the summer.
“I’ve put my body over the limit too many times, and while keeping in mind my future life, now the priority is my health” said Müller justyfing her retirment decision. In order to compete on the highest level, Müller would have to undergo further extensive surgieries.
Last season Müller won the European Cup overall standings, topped the Swiss Championships and finished fourth at the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Arosa. In eight years of her professional career she competed twice at the Olympics (Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014) and grabbed three World Cup victories.
