Riiber takes double victory at Norges Cup in Trondheim
The Norges Cup had its second weekend of action in Trondheim on the past weekend and team youngster Jarl Riiber presented himself in excellent summer shape. The 18-year-old won both events on Saturday and Sunday.
Riiber laid the foundation for his successes in the jumping part of both events which he won. 101.5 and 104.5 metre on Trondheim’s HS 105 hill put him one minute and 12 seconds and one minute and 20 seconds ahead of second ranked Håvard Klemetsen in both events.
On Saturday, it was Jørgen Graabak who improved and intermediate seventh position with the fastest racing time of the day (30:30 for 10 km) and took the second position on the podium, finishing 43 seconds after Riiber. Magnus Krog finished on rank three, 55 seconds after Riiber.
In Sunday’s event, Magnus Moan was the fastest man on skis, setting a time of 23:33 in the race which put him only 19 seconds after Riiber in the finish after having started with a time disadvantage of one minute and 36 seconds. Jørgen Graabak returned to the podium as well, finishing on position three, one minute and 38 seconds after Riiber.
On both day, separate competitions for the Nordic Combined ladies and the 15 and 16-year-olds were held as well. Saturday’s winners were Andreas Skoglund and Gyda Westvold Hansen while Emil Ottesen and Gyda Westvold Hansen were successful on Sunday.
