Luka Gartner new German slopestyle coach

Since mid of September, Luka Gartner (SLO) has taken over the vacant role as slopestyle World Cup coach for Snowboard Germany and therefore supports the freestyle division which is still led by head coach Michael Dammert.

However, the 34-year-old from Železniki won't only focus on supporting the Olympic hopeful trio consisting of Silvia Mittermueller, Nadja Flemming and Maximilian Preissinger to earn their tickets for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The well-experienced coach, who will move to the Austrian-German border soon, is also asked to bring in his structural know-how to help improving the work at the freestyle base camp located at Berchtesgdaden, Germany.

As a result, Gartner, who has been coaching Slovenia's halfpipe ace Tim-Kevin Ravnjak for quite a while, is looking forward to the up-coming months:

“I'm grateful for the new tasks, and I hope that I will be able to support our athletes the best possible way on their road to PyeongChang.

Of course our focus will be on the world champs this season, but we want to do well at this season's World Cup stops, too, as already count for the Olympic qualifier process.”
