Severin Freund will compete in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal

Ski jumping World Champion Severin Freund will make his comeback after a five-months break due to injury. The two time World Champion and Olympic team gold medalist was named to the German team for the two final competitions of the FIS Summer Grand Prix.

As the German already hinted in a recent interview with FIS Ski Jumping, the events in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal will be his first competitions this summer after he had to undergo hip surgery this spring.

The German Ski Association (DSV) announced on Thursday, that Severin Freund will be on the team for the competitions on Saturday and Sunday together with Richard Freitag, Andreas Wellinger, Andreas Wank, Karl Geiger and David Siegel. An additional national group of six athletes will participate in Klingenthal.

"We are really looking forward to the ski jumping weekend in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal. The Summer Grand Prix final in front of the home crowd in Klingenthal is a big privilege for us and so team is highly motivated. Over the last days we trained in Bischofshofen and Ramsau. Now that Severin Freund is back training with the team, we have our entire group together and we will take part in both competitions with this group. Severin is healthy now and he was able to train as planned. These two competitions are a good test for Severin for the final weeks of training before the World Cup season", said head coach Werner Schuster.
