Vic Wild aims for continued progress
There is no doubt that Vic Wild (RUS) has been the rising star of the last season.

After continually stepping up his game over the last three seasons, the raceboarder finished a long and hard path to success by becoming the most successful snowboarder of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.

Coming from a 19th rank in the 2012 overall ranking he claimed Bronze at the 2013 World Championships finishing off the 2103 eason as 9th overall.

Before going into the 2014 Olympics he was already fourth of the world with his first World Cup win (Bad Gastein, Austria January 2014) to his belt.

But it wasn't the end of the road for the 28-year-old America-born athlete who - in total - podiumed twice in his so far 44 World Cup starts.

Thanks to his strong legs, impressive dynamic turns and his stubborn will to write history in his new home country, Wild capped it all off in Sochi by winning Gold in both, the parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom.

A few months after his career's biggest success FISSnowboard.com asked Wild who started with snowboarding at the age of seven to quickly answer a few questions about his summer.

FISSnowboard.com: Where and how are you spending most of your time during the off-season?
Vic Wild: When not training for the up-coming season I travel with my wife (snowboarder Alena Zavarzina).

What are you doing to stay in shape during the off-season?
Living in Moscow it's hard to get out and enjoy a lot of varied training so I am mostly doing my sessions in the gym.

What has been the highlight of this off-season?
I went on a Canoe trip in Northern Ontario. It was great to be away from everything for a few weeks. Also going to my hometown back in April was really special. Now I'm hoping to get back on my snowboard, can’t wait.

What is your main goal for the 2014/15 winter?
Continued progress.
