Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova: Athletics is my big hobby
Czech Cross-Country skier Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova had a breakthrough winter last year. Cross-Country skiing fans could not miss her achievements at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, success at the FIS Tour de Ski and and in the Overall World Cup standing.

After the successful winter, she got several awards, invitations and was busy with social events. Unfortunately preparation for the next winter had been halted by mononucleosis, which took away 3 months of training.

Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova started slowly to train in July. During the summer she took part in several track and field competitions, and improved her PBs; 9:14.02 in 3.000 m and 4:26.15 in 1.500m.

Q: Eva, are you a Cross-Country skier or a track & field runner?

Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova: I'm still a skier, track & field is a big hobby of mine and it will stay like that.

Q: You improved your personal bests in two disciplines. How was it?

E.N.: At 2. p.m. I started in the 3.000 m. I felt great and paced the field. With 500m to go I did not have enough energy to react on an attack. It was close, but I am happy. Three hours later I competed in 1.500m. I was again in the front and lost the lead 100 m before the finish. Again, I did not have energy and speed. However, I am happy for the second place and a personal best.

Q: What is the reaction of athletes when they spot you on the stadium?

E.N.: Well, probably they say, look, there is the skier again. I think they realize when I take part.

Q: In Norway they collect statistics of Cross-Country skier's results in 3.000 m. Your personal best tops the ranking. Did you know that?

E.N.: When I checked out this season's times and saw that Kristin Steira had 9:28.9 it motivated me. Of course I am happy to know I am very fast in the summer.
