No surgery necessary for Magnus Moan
It will be no surgery for Magnus Moan after all, as was decided in a meeting with the Norwegian team doctor, Petter Olberg, at Trondheim today. Moan had been having problems with pain in his heel and achilles tendon for years but was able to train normally in the last few seasons. A new MRT earlier this week showed a stress fracture of the heel bone.
After the new examination today, it was decided to skip a possible surgery as the damage is a low-threshold fracture and can be treated with an alternative method.
„For me, today’s examination was good news. I get to train almost as normal until the winter starts. Of course this is also a risk because you never know how a damage like that develops. But after today’s meeting, we are in agreement to just take preventive measures. I will immediately start with alternative treatment and I will be doing this every day from now on“, Moan said.
Sports Director Sverre Rotevatn was happy that Moan can keep on working towards the World Championships in Falun: „As long as Magnus can train close to normally, I am quite confident that he can deliver top results in the winter. In cooperation with our medial staff, we will do our best to give him the best treatment possible.“
