The biggest superpipe in the world
The Swiss resort of Laax is set to have THE biggest pipe in the world. It will be 200 meters long and cements its position as one of the best freestyle resorts in the Alps.

Laax was one of the first resorts to embrace snowboarding all those years ago and it quickly adopted freestyle and freeride.

It has 4 giant snowparks with a total of 90 obstacles to challenge its riders.

Now it is going one stage further with a new 200m superpipe at the NoName Park.

It will be 6.9m high.

The current one is 140m and the extra 60m will be added in time for its scheduled opening on December 6th 2014.

It will be the longest continuous half-pipe in the world and will be open to pros and amateurs alike.

''Our philosophy has always been to take an idea that one step further. By building the superpipe, we are setting the bar high, stretching the limits of what's possible and establishing a new standard for freestyle sport,'' said a resort spokesman, Reto Poltéra.

Since 2004 has hosted one of the most prestigious events of them all, the Burton European Open.

It also holds the European Freeski Open where 300 riders from across the world compete in pipe and park.

The huge new superpipe looks certain to draw more freestylers to Laax this winter.
