Marc Gini suffers knee injury
Days before the World Cup slalom in Levi Finland, another Swiss - Ski skier has been injured. Marc Gini fell during Sunday's slalom training in Sweden hurting his right knee.
On Monday, Gini flew back to Switzerland and was examined on Tuesday morning at the Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich. An MRI revealed a fracture of the right tibia plateau and tear of the inner meniscus.
"He was lucky . Because the fracture is not displaced, it doesn’t have to be operated and it shouldn’t take too long to heal,” Walter O. Frey, the Swiss Ski doctor said.
Therefore a start in Levi is not in the cards for Gini.
"That is very unfortunate. Levi would have been a good race to go in the top 30 . The slopes are there always excellent. Now I will unfortunately have no choice but to keep my fingers crossed for my teammates. I wish them all the best,” Gini said.
If the healing goes as planned, Gini should be back on skis and racing in January.
We wish him all the best in his recovery and hope to see him back on snow soon.
