Montafon hopes for colder weather
Local Organisers of the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Montafon, Austria are ready to host the third season opener of the SBX World Cup tour in a row. However the team has to cross fingers for Mother Nature to come into the picture.
Right now, the venue site is lacking snow and as the current weather conditions are still too warm the OC of Montafon is hoping for the temperatures to drop soon.
Despite the unpredictable situation OC President Georg Hoblik is still optimistic. He said during a press conference held last Monday: “Athletes will stay additional ten days in Montafon for some training anyway. So we could easily postpone everything.”
A first decision on how things are going is expected to be made next Sunday when course builder Anders Forsell (SWE) arrives in Austria.
The final snow inspection of FIS is still scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 25 - ten days before the first event day (qualifier).
