At first it was planned that the injuries, the German sustained when he fell in Kuusamo last weekend, will be treated conservatively. Accordng to a report on orf.at, Wellinger how had to ungero surgery on Thursday in Innsbruck (AUT).

"He will definitely be out for eight weeks. The 4-Hills-Tournament will take place without him", head coach Werner Schuster is quoted.

Despite this bad news, the 19-year-old already shows some optimism again. On facebook he posted a photo taken in the hospital with the caption: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
