Guri Hetland wins Coach of the Year in Switzerland
Former Swiss Ski Team head coach Guri Hetland has been awarded the honour of Swiss Coach of the Year for her work with Dario Cologna during the 2013-2014 season. It was during this season where Cologna injured his foot, requiring surgery and returned to World Cup competition one weekend before the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games with a podium finish and then went on to win two Olympic Gold medals.
Hetland came on board as the Swiss Ski Team head coach in 2010 and under her training plan the team star Dario Cologna won Olympic and World Championship medals as well as Overall World Cup titles, and the Tour de Ski for his second and third time.
Prior to her arrival with the Swiss team, the Norwegian born Hetland managed the career of 6-time Olympic Gold medalist Marit Bjoergen. Most recently Hetland has begun working as the project manager for the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships bid for Trondheim, Norway.
