Season is over for Prommegger
Just two days after he competed in the parallel giant slalom event of the FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships in Lachtal Austrian National Team member Andreas Prommegger has undergone surgery.

During the operation in the Diakonissen Krankenhaus Schladming, the bone of his left thumb, which got fractured during a fall in a training run on the world championships slope just days prior to the races, was placed back to its original position and got fixed with two wires.

The 34-year old from Salzburg who will leave the hospital mid of the week is forced to take a rest for six weeks and will therefore miss the rest of the World Cup season.

“I was thinking of competing in the next two races in Rogla and Sudelfeld but it wasn't easy to race in Bad Gastein and at the world championships. This is why I decided to call it a day and undergo surgery right after the world championships,” said Prommegger.

Although would be a slight chance for him to be back to business in Moscow and Winterberg, the last two races of the World Cup tour scheduled for March, he preferred to draw a line under the season.

“If the healing process would go fast I might be able to start but it doesn't make any sense if you haven't been on the board for six weeks,” he explained.
