FIS pleased with new courses at Bokwang Snow Park

The final inspection before the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Cup competitions and Olympic test events was completed on 18th November 2015 in Bokwang Snow Park Gangwon (KOR). The competitions will feature cross and slopestyle for both, Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard in February 2016. FIS representatives in collaboration with POCOG and Gangwon Province have been working on the course design over the summer which was implemented into the slopes in record time.

Joe Fitzgerald, FIS Freestyle Skiing Coordinator commented: "We really do not have any worries now because it was great to see that Gangwon province who was responsible for the course construction and POCOG were able to finish ahead of schedule and produce such excellent work."

Uwe Beier, FIS Snowboard Race Director stated: "We are really looking forward to being in Korea again for World Cup competitions and these competitions are sure to be the highlight of the season on the excellent courses."

Roberto Moresi, FIS Snowboard Assistant Race Director stated: "We worked hard on the design of the slopestyle course last fall and our ideas and innovative concepts were directly translated into the slopes in record time. It’s going to be a great course for the World Cup and the Olympics in two years."

Meanwhile, Martin Fiala, FIS Ski Cross Race Director noted: "It overwhelms my expectations. We were able to work with natural terrain and also build some interesting features. The course works well for skiers and snowboarders since it splits making one-third of the course exclusive to skiers and to snowboarders."
