World Cup Race cancellations and changes
Unseasonably warm weather in Central Europe and the North American East Coast this winter has caused a number of cancellations or race changes to the World Cup calendar across nearly every discipline. Thanks to the hard work and cooperation of the FIS Organising Committees, many of the competitions have been able to find a new home, or can still be staged, thanks to their incredible efforts. Below is a summary of the World Cup competitions impacted recently by the warm weather.
- The St. Anton (AUT) ladies’ downhill and super-G competitions originally scheduled for 9th-10thJanuary 2016 have been moved to Zauchensee (AUT) on the same dates. The downhill, on the 9th, will be changed to a sprint format and have a shorter course over two runs. The super-G will be staged on the 10th.
- The men’s and ladies’ slalom races scheduled to be held in Zagreb (CRO) on the 3rd (ladies’) and 6th (men’s) have been moved to Santa Caterina (ITA) with the ladies’ race being held on 5thand the men’s on 6th January.
- The Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup races scheduled for 9th-10th January in Watles (ITA) have been cancelled.
- In North America, the FIS World Cup competitions in aerials and moguls scheduled for 14th - 16th January in Lake Placid (USA) have been cancelled. Replacement options are currently being considered.
- The programme for the FIS Tour de Ski stages in Oberstdorf (GER) has been altered. A 1.2 km sprint classic will be staged on 5th January instead of the 6th. On 6th January there will be a mass start classic 10km ladies’ and 15 km men’s, instead of the Skiathlon. For updated starting times, please click here.
