SnowKidz Organisers go green for their event

The Organising Committee of the Innsbruck 2016 International Children’s Games (ICG) feels strongly about ecological, economic and social sustainability and it has received the “Green Event Tirol” certification.

The event - which is part of the FIS SnowKidz initiative - is based on the check list for sustainability of the Climate Alliance of Tirol. All 1,000 international guests and 700 volunteers will be accommodated in a 25 km radius of the venues and will be transported by environmentally friendly buses.

“It is great to see that the Organisers demonstrate that winter sport events can be realised as ‘Green Events’. The proper and sustainable treatment of the environment should become a trademark of the region of Tyrol”, Deputy Governor Ingrid Felipe explained.

The International Children’s Games is an IOC-sanctioned event held every year where children from cities around the world and between the ages of 12-15 participate in a variety of sports and cultural activities.
