Prize money
A huge prize money pot is waiting for the athletes taking part in the Ski Tour Canada. The grand total amount reaches 640.000 CHF. The Overall Ski Tour Canada winner will take home 100.000 CHF. In addition, 24.000 CHF are waiting for the athlete to win all 8 stages. Tour leader will get after every stage, except the last one a bonus of 1.000 CHF. The winner of the Sprint Ski Tour Canada standing ranking will get 6.000 CHF. The prize money is equal for both ladies and men.
Crystal globes
History will be made at Ski Tour Canada 2016 as the fabled crystal globes will be awarded outside of Euopre for the first time.
The race for the Overall World Cup victory is still open. Therese Johaug and Martin Johnsrud Sundby lead the current Overall World Cup standing. However, with many World Cup points up for grabs there’s room for surprises and exciting battles.
The overall Ski Tour Canada winner gets four times more points than for a normal World Cup. A maximum of 800 World Cup points can be won in Canada, 400 for the overall Tour, and 50 points for each of the eight stages. The sprints will count for the sprint World Cup, distance competitions for the distance World Cup.
